We provide tools and resources for those interested in, working towards becoming, and currently working as crisis workers. Crisis Workers provide both emotional support and immediatw help to individuals experiencing crises. Their daily responsibilities may include: evaluating the immediate safety of the client and their surroundings, offering emotional support to individuals who are in distress, identifying the specific needs of clients and creating action plans to meet those needs, connecting clients with appropriate services like counseling, housing, or healthcare, collaborating with other professionals, such as social workers and mental health specialists, to coordinate services for clients, delivering crisis intervention services that include risk assessment and safety planning, maintaining accurate and current records for each client, providing follow-up services to ensure continuous safety and well-being for the client, advocating for clients’ rights and needs within the community and among service providers, and engaging in ongoing professional training and development to improve crisis intervention abilities. To be effective in their work, crisis workers must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, remain calm under pressure, and have a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues and crisis intervention strategies. Crisis response aims to provide the latter.
